Rubbish Tin Rounders Supreme Champions

The Victorious Team
 
The Year 8 students from 2013 retained their title of "Rubbish Tin Rounders" Champions after defeating the Year 7 students 29 runs to 24 in the annual event. The winning team are the first ever team to have won two years in a row after defeating last years Year 8's, and then going on to do the double! Congratulations to them all!

The end of two great years was celebrated by most of the Room 5 Year 8 students at the Graduation Social held in the massively decorated Gym. A great night was had by all who attended.

Petria Fitzgerald from Room 5 spoke on behalf of all the departing Year 8 students at the fourth and final school Prizegiving Assembly for 2013 in front of a packed auditorium of parents, invited guests and students. This followed the presentation of academic awards with Petria, Shyla Paikea-Lepulu, Jasmine Muhlmann and Jakob Thomas receiving the top awards for Room 5. Carl Stephens was awarded the trophy for top Academic Competition results, and Alex Carter was  a recipient of a Music award. Fallon Goodson received the award for Citizenship for Room 5. Phaeora Sims was presented with the newly created "STAR" badge as one of the first students at Maeroa to achieve over 50 Koru flashes.

Cheerleading Champions!

Nicole Allen and Amelia Shepherd from Room 5 are members of the Hamilton based Cheerleading squad from "Cheer Revolution" named "Fierce" who recently won a place at the All Star Games in Las Vegas in April 2014. Wow! They qualified for this by being 1st overall in the Senior Open Level 2 division at the Twisted Cheerleading Championships in Auckland and also achieved the highest overall Level 2 score. They received one of only five Bronze Bids awarded which means they received 25% of expenses paid for their trip as part of their prize, if they take up the offer of the trip!
