2011 Spelling Bee Champion

The 2011 Spelling Bee champion is Jessica Needham from Room 5. Jess spelt "anthropology" correctly in what turned out to be the final round, as all of the other 6 contestants remaining, made errors. Jess competed against 40 finalists in front of an evening audience of parents and students in the auditorium. Congratulations Jess. With this win she also gained her 20th koru, qualifying her for her silver badge, the first person in the school to do so!

A number of Room 5 students take lead roles in the latest mini-production produced by the school. It is a play setting a message about the various idol shows from television with a twist at the end. Students from Room 5 involved are- Jess Forkert, Jess Needham, Hannah Jenkin, Kayla Polley, Anna Butcher, Yaksh Kataria, Mirella Willson, Liana Scott-Nanthasack, and Laureth Chapman.

2011 Sports Camp

Many of our Room 5 students were involved in the recent Sports Camp team at Totara Springs Camp at Matamata. The team spent from Monday to Friday exclusively playing different sports against other intermediate schools from the North Harbour region of Auckland. Students from Room 5 who were involved were- (Yr 8's) Eden French-Putu, Jaimie Jefferson, Hannah Jenkin, Anna Butcher, Kayla Polley, Jess Forkert, Jonno Barnes, Josh Allen, Sheridan Tuimaseve, Ezra Sa'u, (Yr 7's)- Laureth Chapman, Tayla Lewis-Devlyn, Annie Oxborrow, Liana Scott-Nanthasack, Trent Langeveld, Sheldon Rogers. Not a bad representation from a team of 30! Eden and Jaimie won the table tennis, and Josh and Liana won the archery!
