Mr Metcalfe- Top Coach for 2011

The Maeroa Missiles Saturday Softball team have won the Intermediate Grade Minor League for the 2011 post Xmas Summer League. The team included 2 students from Room 5- Sheridan Tuimaseve and Ezra Sa'u, and was coached by Mr Metcalfe. The team had a great record throughout the season, with only the one narrow loss. Mr Metcalfe was also awarded the trophy for "Top Coach".

2011 V2 Car Racers

Whoops! Our chance for back to back victories went out the door when our team was disqualified in the final after crossing the finish line in first place! One of our team of racers apparently took the inside running and missed a cone, thereby taking a short cut. So after winning, we were disqualified. So after crossing the line in the final in first place 3 times in 3 years, and only one official win, we were again disappointed! Students in the team were Jaimie Jefferson, Jess Forkert, Kainoa Thomas and Sheridan Tuimaseve. Oh well, maybe next year!

2011 Wellington Trip

A fantastic trip to Wellington has just been completed by 8 students from the class along with Mr. Metcalfe, and 7 other students from Rooms 4 and 6. We stayed at the YHA this year instead of a backpackers, and it was great! Lots of fun was had by all. We flew down from Auckland (flying from Hamilton on AirNZ was too expensive!!!) and visited Te Papa x2, Parliament, Capital E (where we made 2 great news shows), WETA Cave, Zealandia, and had a great time at Ferg's Rockwall climbing, went swimming at Kilburnie, and had a fantastic scenic tour of Wellington by helicopter. Students on the tour from Room 5 were Eden French-Putu, Eilis Yates, Chelsea Walton, Anna Butcher, Jess Forkert, Jess Needham, Josh Allen and Sheridan Tuimaseve.
