Students from Room 5 travelled with others from Kahikatea team and Mr Metcalfe to Wellington for five days of educational experiences including visiting our national museum Te Papa, the Wellington Holocaust Museum, our nation's Parliament, the Carter Observatory, the Museum of the City and Sea, the Art Gallery, and Zealandia; finishing with a helicopter tour of the city. We also went Rock Wall Climbing, went to the movies, and had dinner at a Mongolian restaurant. We flew both to and from Wellington by air and survived a week in the city that had just days before experienced large earthquakes. The students from Room 5 who attended were Shadrach Tuimaseve, Ben Needham, Ashleigh Eves, Jasmine Muhlmann-Brown, Fallon Goodson, Phaeora Sims and Cassie Barnes. A great trip!
Room 5 students feature in each of the videos featured above when involved in the "Capital Connections" programme. This began at the Carter Observatory where the students were tutored in iMovie and then set tasks to accomplish throughout the day. They then visited the cable car, the Museum of the City and Sea, and then the Wellington Art Gallery. After editing, they watched their resulting videos before departing the programme. Assistance came from Capital e!
