School Production rehearsals underway "This Is My Song"

Xavier is the Commandant
The 2015 Maeroa School production rehearsals have begun after weeks of auditions. The school is to perform "This Is My Song", an original musical previously performed at the school in 2001. It is set in Europe during turmoil in the fictitious country of Kavaria which has been invaded by the neighbouring Moldavians. The central character is Tatiana who is forced like many others by the new Commandant to perform in a concert that is part of a campaign to show the world that all is "normal" in the country. She befriends a Moldavian soldier Stefan, who helps Tatiana and her family escape. This is Tatiana's story, this is her song! The musical was written by Room 5 teacher Colin Metcalfe and a former Maeroa teacher Kuini Thompson, with music adapted by the school's Music teacher Anthony Hills. The script has been revised by current director and Drama teacher Dione Sasso. It features an original song written by Colin Metcalfe called "Clear the Streets". Pictured are Room 5 students Xavier, Keenan, Nikita, Isabella, Natalie, Chayse and Jasmine at rehearsal.

Nikita is the TV reporter and Isabella is the Mrs Kriachek, a respected citizen.
