The Maeroa Saturday Softball team were runners-up in the Minor Intermediate Grade tournament Final on Saturday and the team featured many players from Room 5. They were captained by Zane Disher, and included Laish Grant, Ezra Sa'u, Jacob Goodwin and Devon Davies. The team was coached by Mr Metcalfe. The team actually scored more runs than their opposition (18-16) at the end of the 4th innings, when the game finished,but the opposition protested to the organisers, and won the final on a technicality because the game had inched past the expected finish time of 12 noon, and so the score had to be taken back as from the end of the 3rd innings, where Peachgrove were ahead. Although we had to accept the decision of arbitration, we were not happy, and believe we had a moral victory.
